A few closing thoughts...
* I love making home-made costumes... The bee was initially Jordan's when he was that size. I love that every kid has worn it. My friend Gail sewed the ear of corn and the carrot. She is a sewing genius. I made the dragonfly. It was the biggest pain-in-the-ass to make. Even worse to move a kid through a crowd in... the wings catch on everything. The Lego Brick was easy - a cardboard box, six Gladware containers and a can of red spray paint. We painted the 'Lego' logo in white paint on each container before we spraypainted, so it shows through. Jordan and I pulled together the scarecrow in an afternoon. Total cost: $5.99, for the crow. Everything else we had on hand. Kudos to friend Norma for suggesting using a pool noodle for the arm support - much lighter than the stick we were initially using. This year's stag beetle cost $3.77 - just a can of blue spray paint. The rest is comprised of a bicycle helmet, pool noodle, papier-mache, duct tape and tissue paper. The lady bug skirt was a breeze to sew... I love elastic and tulle - so easy to pull together for untalented sewers like myself. Next year's theme is already known.. a reprise of the vegetables. The corn and carrot outfits have to be worn again - they are just too cute to pass up. Rylan will be a scarecrow as well - with a twist.
* I can never remember to take decent pictures on Hallowe'en. Never.
* Owen's facial contortions never cease to amaze me.
